Have you ever hung a piece of art over your sofa; then when you take a step back, it’s just not right? You pull it off the wall, remove the nail, and try again. It may even take a third try. You finally get it right, but now you have a bunch of holes in your wall.
Here are some tips for selecting and hanging your art to get it right the first time:
1. The piece you’re hanging should be about 2/3 the size of what it’s going over. If you’re doing a grouping, the grouping should cover the same area.

2. The center of the artwork should hang at eye level. When you step away from the piece, you should be looking straight ahead, not slightly up or down. A good guideline is 60” from the center of the piece to the floor.
3. The bottom of the artwork should be no more than 6”-8” above the top of your sofa. Any higher, and the blank wall between the art and sofa becomes a distraction.

Great information and great guidelines. Your formulas appear that they should work every time.
Thanks JWL!
I love all of the hanging instructions as it can make a huge difference in the presentation of the art. I also love seeing all of the Uttermost art…Serenity is one of my favorites!!
Thanks Jason! Serenity is certainly one of our favorites and I’m not sure what we would do without our great partnership with Uttermost.
